THE ABC’S OF IMAGE BRANDING –PART A

APPEARANCE + ATTITUDE:

It is said,

“Don’t judge a book by its cover, it’s what’s inside that counts”

But don’t you think that it would be easier if the cover was as good as the book? Just like if the way a person carries himself would equal to how he is from the inside?

Now imagine what if the cover was bad but the book was an excellent read? Wouldn’t you be like, damn! But only if the cover had been as good as the book it would’ve been a bestseller! Doesn’t that sometime happen with people too?

It is said, “You are more than what you see”. But what if that one vision of what you saw of the person was just a trailer of how interesting and good he/she is and then, when you get closer the picture gets more attractive.

Only if that would be the case, there wouldn’t be any need for proving ones true self or clearing out misconceptions that people have of you. Then why play the game of wearing a mask that doesn’t even show your true personality? Why not cut the chase and get straight to the point of who you really are? Only if people dressed like who they were!

“Actions speak louder than words” likewise, “Appearances speak before you express through words”.

Yes Its True!

Even before you enter a room, whether you like it or not, people start making snap judgments about you based on your appearance, clothing, etiquette, grooming and body language.

According to statistics, 55 % of your communication is Visual, 38% is Vocal (pitch,tone) and only 7% is Verbal. When you combine all this, visual communication almost becomes 80%.

Then why not make an effort in portraying who you genuinely are through your appearance or attitude? And why not encourage people to make favorable judgments about you instead of hiding behind the wrong set of clothing or attitude?

 The thing about appearance is, at most times it drives your attitude. Attitude doesn’t just happen, you have to choose the right attitude and get in the mood of the situation before you communicate with someone. Even before you say a word, your attitude will infect people around you. Just like yawning, laughing and crying is infectious. Most times, our attitude towards others determines their attitude towards us.

More often than not, people will always remember how you made them feel over what you spoke. It is like people may hear your words but they feel your attitude!
